The 2024 Wimbledon Tournament continued Wednesday with quarterfinal matchups for the men’s and women’s singles tournaments, as well as the men’s and women’s doubles, and the first and second round of mixed doubles.
Defending men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz recovered well to earn his semifinal spot after dropping his first set to American Tommy Paul on Tuesday. Meanwhile, No. 1 Jannik Sinner did not fare as well, suffering from an upset defeat at the hands of No. 5 Daniil Medvedev. No. 2 Novak Djokovic and No. 25 Lorenzo Musetti also advanced to the semis.
No. 7 Jasmine Paolini ended American Emma Navarro’s storied Wimbledon run on Tuesday. The 23-year-old former NCAA Champion had a breakout tournament, which saw her take down No. 2-ranked player Coco Gauff in straight sets. There is no American left in the men’s and women’s singles after No. 13 Taylor Fritz fell to Musetti.
