Brazilian star forward, Neymar, may not participate in the CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 tournament, which will be held for the second time in the United States.
Neymar is currently recovering from knee surgery, which he underwent in October to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus. The injury occurred during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay.
According to Rede 98 in Brazil, Neymar's doctor has warned that rushing his recovery to play in the tournament next summer would be “taking unnecessary risks.”
“There’s no point in skipping steps to recover sooner. Our expectation is that he will be prepared to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe, which is August,” Lasmar told Brazil’s Rede 98.
Recently, Neymar left PSG after spending six years with the club. Neymar joined the Saudi Pro League after Al Hilal paid a staggering $98.6 million to acquire the services of the star forward. Neymar is a crucial member of the Brazilian national team and is the all-time leading scorer for the team, having scored 79 goals in 129 appearances.
