Over half a million power outages have been reported in Texas Wednesday as a series of severe storms swept through the state over Memorial Day weekend and continued into this week.
More storms hit Texas and the Southern Plains Tuesday, the latest outbreak of severe weather in the central U.S. that killed at least 22 people over the weekend.
At least one storm-related death was reported in Texas on Tuesday, after two homes under construction collapsed under the force of hazardous winds and rain.
Dallas County officials issued a disaster declaration Tuesday. Judge Clay Jenkins posted on X that the storms will likely result in "a multi day power outage for a significant number" of utility customers in the region.

There are a number of outages reported over the last 72 hours around the state, including Dallas and East Texas, around Houston, Lubbock, Corpus Christi and along the Texas-Mexico border, according to a power outage tracker from USA TODAY.
Dallas County has over 200,000 outages reported as of Wednesday morning, the highest in the state. At over 2.6 million residents, Dallas County is the second most populated county in Texas, just after Harris County, which has over 4.8 million residents.
Besides Harris County, where Houston is located, some of the counties with the highest outages surrounded Dallas, including Collin, Denton and Kaufman counties.
